Some rooms TERRIBLE

The Bad: The Inn has tried to capitalize on high demand in high tourist season by expanding the historic part of the house with cheap, small and oddly placed rooms. While the larger historic rooms can be nice, the others comes off as a rabbit warren. The first room (10) we were given one stepped out directly onto the driveway and 4 feet beyond that a high fence. When we asked, we were kindly given the same room 2 floors up (rm 8) so at least we looked into the next door inn's yard. But both rooms were small, tiny bathroom, tiny tv high up on the wall, loud a/c. Our bed was terrible. After 2 days we asked to PAY to upgrade to a king sized bed, hoping it would be better. But we were told that, while king rooms were available, we could not change because the cleaning staff were about to leave for the day and thus would not be available to clean our current room IN CASE someone else wanted to take it (low season, 3 in the afternoon, other rooms were still available -- think highly unlikely scenario). That night we tried to fix the bed frame, but hopelses without tools. Breakfast inculded but nothign to write home about - cheap danishes, apples, bagels, oj, cofeee.
Summary: Take care what room you get, and especially in low season, there are other places out there. -

The Staff at the Chelsea House was very friendly, and provided information to 1st time visitors to Key West. Within walking distance to everything. 3 blocks to Duvall Street. From there 11 very short blocks to Sloppy Joes, Hogs Breath, and Mallory Square. About 9 blocks to Turtle Kralls and docks. ONLY complaint is VERY small bathroom, sink is in room. Bed was uncomfortable. Stayed in room 16 which is in the back of the hotel, very quiet and facing the pool. Just steps to breakfast. Would stay again.

Great character and charm
01/02/2007Chelsea house is quaint and comfortable for a relaxing stay in key west. it's only a couple of blocks from duval street where all the food and shopping is.

The hospitality, cleanliness, grounds, pool,closeness to Duval and overall accomadations at the Chelsea House were great. The room we stayed in was a little uncomfortable but we managed. I did not like the fact that there were no full length mirrors and the open window space from the bathroom to the main area. A little more variety in the continental breakfast would have been nice. I will defintely stay again.

This is a charming place with nice rooms, lovely patio area and nice pool. The ONLY complaint we had was the mattress in room 23 was hard as a rock. Otherwise, we LOVED it and would stay there again.
